For my son’s first birthday, we threw him a Little Man party.  I chose blue and green as the colors.  The party featured mustaches, bow ties, ties, suspenders, and argile.  Above (and below here) you can see the mustache’s I made on a stick.  My main DIY items included mustaches both on long sticks (bamboo skewers) and short sticks (popsicle sticks – for the kids), party hats (see above), party favor bags (brown paper bags with ties on them above), and party bunting (see below). A Busy Mom’s Guide to Throwing a Memorable DIY Birthday Party

I’m a big DIY-er.  I did as much as I could for my wedding, many bridal and baby showers, and now I’m on to child birthday parties.  Doing things yourself gives you the creativity to get things exactly how you want them.  Throwing a DIY party gives your party an edge, makes it memorable, and usually takes enormous amounts of time and energy, which you are then in turn saving in money.  But what about a the busy mom who doesn’t want to throw a cookie cutter, store bought birthday party?  Or the busy mom who doesn’t want to spend all of her cash on a store bought birthday party?  I’m here to tell you, throwing a DIY birthday party is possible!  I know because, I just did.  You can read about my son’s Thomas the train inspired party here. Choo Choo! Thomas the Tank Engine Inspired Birthday Party

First things first, I can’t believe my baby boy is two years old! OK, now that’s out of the way, the fun stuff: the party.

Generally, train-themed; specifically, Thomas. I, however, did not want to go overboard Thomas and go overly store-bought and almost tacky, if you know what I mean.
