Knitting and Crochet Blog Week IV Day Seven: Looking Forward

Today’s Instructions:  One year from now, when the 5th Knitting & Crochet Blog Week rolls around, where do you hope your crafting will have taken you to? What new skills, projects and experiences do you hope you might have conquered or tried?

Oh goodness gracious, I don’t know!  Right now, I’m knitting to relax, while I watch T.V., for fun, and sometimes to explore creativity.  But knitting is not the only medium I use when I have an idea, it’s just one outlet that I’ve found that I like and I can do.  Check out my Etsy shop to see some of the other things do.

But I guess I do have a few things I’d like to improve upon specifically.

1.  Colorwork

Don’t get me wrong, I’ve done colorwork.  I love designing colorwork patterns, and knitting colorwork hats, but I’m not as good as I’d like to be.  I’d like to be faster at it.  If I’m motivated enough, I’d like to get good at doing colorwork at Eunny Yang demonstrates so beautifully starting around the 4 minute mark in this great YouTube tutorial from Knitting Daily.

2.  DPNs

I feel like I should get better using DPNs.  I love knitting in the round.  Right now, I just dislike them.  I’m not bad at it, it just takes longer and is generally uncomfortable for me.  This will probably only be rectified with practice…so we’ll see if this happens or not…

Anyone have a good reason I should start liking them?  I’ll take a circular needle over DPNs any day!

3.  Make a Pattern Available for Others

When I’m knitting creativity, I love creating my own work.  It’s just not as exciting to do something someone else has already done!  I’ve a bunch of patterns for myself (with pencil and paper) and they’re a mess to look at.  Crossed out, weird markings, I’m not sure even an advanced knitter would be able to look at one of my patterns and follow it.  If I don’t feel ready for this by next years Knitting and Crochet Blog Week, hopefully for the year after.  Either way, stay with me, and maybe check out a pattern soon…err…soonish.

My jealousy goals (will probably not happen)

You knitters who spin your own yarn, you’re awesome, and I’m jealous.  I love looking at your photos of your tools.  I want them.  I wouldn’t know what to do with them, I want to learn!  I just don’t have the time, and it’s not something that is looking to fit in with my lifestyle in the near future.  Maybe when I’m an empty-nester knitter?  Definitely not once I’m a granny knitter.  I’ll be strictly knitting in the rocking chair full time.

Thank you to all you knitters out there posting YouTube videos tutorials.  It’s how I taught myself and you are awesome.  I’m jealous of your awesome videos, but will probably not do any, ever.  But please, keep doing what you’re doing, I appreciate you!  I use YouTube knitting tutorials a lot, maybe a bit more than I need to, but you just make it so easy!  Thank you!

Thank you!

And thank you to any new readers this week!  I’ve had a great time reading lots of other blogs and feeling like part of a community.  I’d love for you to stick around to see all the other stuff I do!  And awesome if you’re still reading this post.  This is absolutely the wordiest post I’ve ever written compared to the amount of photos (none!).  Sorry, I’ll try to include extra photos in my next post!
